Wayfinding: My Personal Pasifika • Ginen i Tasi (WORK IN PROGRESS) My ancestors mastered and lived the methods of wayfinding to explore and settle the islands of the Pacific. I am a descendant of the ancient CHamorus explorers who navigated the tasi yan i tano (the ocean and the land).
I am a modern day wayfinder. Wayfinding through the tasi yan i tano of my life journey and search of cultural identity through the prism of a camera viewfinder. Wayfinding stories via my imagery; trying, failing, learning, trying again and momentarily succeeding.
I present some of my favorite fleeting successes. A collection of images, an essay, a love letter to my CHamoru-ness, my Pacific Islander -ness, my global human-ness.
